Thin Endometrium

A thin uterine lining (endometrium) prevents embryo implantation. Targeted therapies can build the lining to support a successful pregnancy.

📏

Overview

What is Thin Endometrium?

The endometrium (uterine lining) must reach an adequate thickness — typically ≥8 mm with a trilaminar pattern — for an embryo to implant successfully. A persistently thin endometrium fails to provide the vascular and nutritional support required for implantation, resulting in IVF failures even with high-quality embryos.

Improving Endometrial Thickness

Iswarya Fertility employs a range of evidence-based approaches including high-dose oestrogen, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) infusion, low-dose aspirin, vitamin E supplementation, and PRP (platelet-rich plasma) uterine infusion to build the endometrial lining.

Symptoms

Repeated IVF failure despite transferring good-quality embryos
Light or scanty menstrual periods
History of uterine curettage or D&C procedures
Endometrial thickness consistently below 7 mm

Causes

1
Damage from D&C, curettage, or uterine surgery
2
Asherman's syndrome (intrauterine adhesions)
3
Inadequate oestrogen stimulation
4
Poor blood flow to the uterus
5
Chronic endometritis (uterine infection)

How It's Diagnosed

Transvaginal ultrasound measuring endometrial thickness
Hysteroscopy to assess the cavity and detect adhesions
Endometrial biopsy to rule out chronic endometritis
